Our Mission
We are dedicated to promoting the joy of boating, maintaining high standards in club operations, and fostering a welcoming environment for boaters of all skill levels. Our Board of Trustees oversees club governance, financial planning, and strategic initiatives to uphold the values that make our club home to the friendliest people on the Chesapeake Bay.
2025 Board of Trustees
Glenn McDermott, Commodore

The Commodore is the highest-ranking volunteer in the club, responsible for overseeing operations, governance, and direction. They command the Fleet, preside over meetings, enforce rules, and sign contracts. The Commodore appoints key officials, fleet captains, and committee chairpersons, subject to Board approval, and may create additional committees as needed.
Sandy Alexander, Vice Commodore

The Vice Commodore is the second-in-command, assisting the Commodore in overseeing club operations and often preparing to assume the Commodore role in the future. It is their responsibility to assist the Commodore in the discharge of his/her duties and to officiate in the Commodore’s absence.
Bill Young, Rear Commodore

The Rear Commodore is third in command after the Commodore and Vice Commodore. This role is the beginning of the tenure as Commodore. The duty of the Rear-Commodore to assist the Commodore and the Vice-Commodore in the discharge of their duties and to officiate in their absence.
Chris Treacy, Past Commodore

The Past Commodore provides guidance and support to the current leadership based on their previous experience as Commodore. Our commodores serve in each Commodore role for a year, resulting in a 4 year tenure.
Tara Bowman, Secretary

The Secretary is responsible for keeping meeting notes, maintaining club records, and signing contracts with the Commodore. They manage relations with reciprocal yacht clubs, keep an updated membership directory, and provide member lists to the Treasurer and Peruser annually. The Secretary handles membership applications, issues membership certificates and cards, maintains yacht details and private signal files. They also manage club correspondence, oversee the printing of bylaws and the membership directory, and present a written report at the annual meeting.
Rosalie Mitchell, Treasurer

The Treasurer is responsible for managing all Club funds, including collecting dues, keeping deposits in approved financial institutions, and making payments as directed by the Board of Trustees. They must use an approved accounting program and provide financial reports monthly to the Board and annually to the Club. Additionally, the Treasurer must meet any surety requirements and oversee ABC licensing procedures for the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board of Virginia.
